Can You Do This Yourself
Most garages in Brookhaven went up around 1992, which puts you squarely in the era of raised-panel steel sectional doors - usually two or three panels per section, often with a faux wood-grain stamp that was popular on builder-grade doors through the 90s. A single dented panel on one of these doors looks like a simple swap, but the hardware is riveted to the panel in a lot of these models, not bolted, so pulling one section apart without the right fixture can bend the stile and ruin a panel that was otherwise fine.
If you've got a bottom panel that took a hit from a car bumper, you can sometimes get away with a DIY fix if the track alignment wasn't disturbed. Check that the door still rolls straight with the opener disconnected, pulling it by hand. If it binds, skips a roller, or the remaining panels don't sit flush, the frame's out of square and that's not a one-person job. We'd rather tell you that up front than have you order the wrong panel twice.
Parts We Carry
We stock steel panel sections sized for the door widths common to Brookhaven's 1990s-built garages
Mostly 16-foot doubles and 8 or 9-foot singles, the standard builder sizes from that period. Matching the wood-grain embossing exactly isn't always possible since manufacturers have changed stamping dies more than once since 1992, but we carry enough panel profiles to get a close match on texture and panel height so the seam isn't the first thing you notice from the driveway.
We also keep hinges, end stiles, and the short torsion springs sized for single-car doors on the truck
Since those wear out around the same time a panel starts to go. What we don't stock are decorative overlay kits for custom doors - those get special-ordered and the lead time runs longer than a standard steel panel.
What It Costs
We don't publish a flat price here because panel cost depends on door width, insulation type, and whether the embossing needs to match an existing door versus a full replacement where match doesn't matter. What we can tell you is that Brookhaven's housing stock skews toward double-wide garages more than some of the older neighborhoods closer to Roswell, and a double panel costs more than a single - simple as that. We'll give you a number on site once we've measured the door and pulled the section that's damaged.
How We Fix It
We start by identifying the panel section - top, middle, or bottom - because the bottom section carries the weather seal and the bottom brackets that anchor the lift cables, and that one takes more care to get right. On a riveted panel, we drill out the old rivets rather than forcing the hinge apart, which keeps the stile from bending and the new panel seating flush.
Once the new section is in, we check the whole door runs true on both tracks before we reconnect the opener. A door that's cold-climate rated, like the ones built to hold up through Georgia's freeze-thaw winters, depends on all its panels sealing evenly - one stiff or misaligned section throws off the rest of the weatherstrip and you'll feel the draft in the garage by January.
